If you've already submitted — yay & thank you! We're an indie, ad-free & reader-supported literary publication. We love platforming poets around the world & promoting the practice of poetry. Throughout the year, we have 22 open reading calls that are 100% free to submit to. And we pay everyone we publish. So while our awards have an entry fee, they are also how we stay afloat. Plus, every single submitter gets a complimentary 3-month premium membership. When you support indie arts and creators, you also hold up the community. We don’t take your readership for granted.

Our Poet of the Year will receive $3000 and a lifetime membership to ONLY POEMS. 4 Finalists will receive $500 each and a year-long membership to ONLY POEMS. As we do with our Poet o the Week series, we will publish 3-10 poems by all five selected poets alongside extensive interviews, published in August.

SUBMISSION ESSENTIALS

  • Submit 3–10 pages of previously unpublished poems
  • Open to anyone writing in English, anywhere in the world
  • Reading fee: $22 (includes a one-month Chill Subs Best membership AND a complimentary three-month ONLY POEMS premium membership)
  • Simultaneous submissions welcome. Plus, you DO NOT need to withdraw part or all of your submission if your poems get picked elsewhere

Many emerging poets we’ve published have ended up becoming friends, meeting each other online & in person. Before going on this short summer break, we published Danez Smith whose work came in the...
